Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

검색엔진최적화 (SEO) is a process of enhancing a web site's content and architecture to better reflect the search terms (keywords) a user enters into the search bar. The goal of SEO is to have a high conversion rate on the backend of the website – what's known as the organic search results – without having paid for the placement in the search results (Paid Search Results). Why is SEO important? Everyday people use search engines to find what they're looking for – whether it's products, services or information. If you want your website to be found when someone searches for something relevant to your website's content, then you should consider investing in SEO. What is SEO? SEO is a form of marketing that can be automated and scaled relatively easily. SEO agencies (companies that specialize in SEO) can utilize tools that will automatically try to improve your site's SEO. When a user enters a search term (using Google, Bing, or another search engine) into the search bar, a series of events occurs. From the simplest form of SEO, on-page SEO, to more advanced techniques such as link building and content planning – SEO incorporates all aspects of web design and marketing. On-page SEO (also known as On-Site SEO) refers to the procedures and actions you can take to actually have a high ranking in search results. On-page SEO includes things such as the content you publish on your site, the architecture and design of your site, and the keywords you use. In general, high-quality content published on a high-quality site using engaging keywords will have an easy time finding its way to the top of search results. What is the First Step in a SEO Strategy? The first step of any SEO strategy is to conduct a keyword analysis. A keyword analysis determines which words and phrases are the most relevant to your site's content and which words and phrases are the most popular. After you have determined the most relevant and popular keywords – known as the keywords in demand – you should create content using those keywords in mind. When you create content for SEO purposes, you should use a combination of keywords and phrases to have the best possible shot at being found when someone searches for those terms. When someone types in those keywords or phrases into the Google search bar, your website will show up in the search results – ideally, at the top of the results – because you have optimized your content for these specific phrases and words. The following is a short tutorial on how to conduct a basic keyword analysis using Google. Go to the Google home page and, when you see the search bar at the top, click on it to open a new tab. On the new tab, type in your chosen keywords (or key phrases) and press enter. This will bring up a page of suggestions; click on any of the suggested keywords or phrases to see a short list of results. From here, you can see how many results there are for your chosen keywords and how competitive the market is for each term. You can also see the average monthly search volume for each keyword or phrase. You should strive to have keywords that are relatively easy to manage. Once you have done a keyword analysis and established a base level of requirements and goals, you can move on to the next stage of your strategy. What is the Second Step in a SEO Strategy? The second step of any SEO strategy is to set a long-term and short-term goal for your efforts. Long-term goals are typically focused on business growth and are often linked to the overall mission and vision of your organization. Setting a long-term goal will make it much easier to measure your progress along the way. Short-term goals are generally more focused on immediate results and are often linked to the goals set in the first step. Short-term goals should dovetail with the overall strategy established in step one. For example, if your short-term goal is to gain 50 new customers this month, you might establish a content strategy to gain 50 new customers in the next six months.
